Cincinnati Marlins Team Up To Break 13-14 800 Freestyle Relay NAG Record at Ohio JOs

The Ohio Junior Olympic Championships began tonight at Miami (OH) University. The meet was kicked off by a new NAG record in the 13-14 Boy’s 800 freestyle relay from the Cincinnati Marlins. The foursome of Justin Grender, Nicholas Perera, Jake Foster and Josh McDonald teamed up to finish at 7:58.64.

The previous record was held by Irvine Novaquatics at 8:00.81, set in June 2014. Here is how the two swims break down —

Owen Kao – 1:56.51
Justin Nguyen – 2:01.71
Kevin Tu – 2:03.43
Hunter Hitchens – 1:59.61

Cincinnati Marlins, 7:58.64
Justin Grender – 1:59.34
Nicholas Perera – 1:58.07
Jake Foster – 2:03.56
Josh McDonald – 1:57.67

Grender, Perera and Foster are all 14-years-old, while Foster is 13. The time by the Marlins also sets a new JO Meet Record and Ohio Record.
