City of Glasgow Swim Team (COGST) is delighted to announce the appointment of three new staff to the programme ahead of the 2016-17 season.

Following a successful recruitment process, Danielle Brayson will take up the senior position of Assistant Head Performance Coach working directly under the leadership of the current Head Performance Coach Ian Wright.

Brayson hails from Newcastle, England and is presently the Head Coach of Dumfries Dolphins and Regional Coach for Dumfries & Galloway. She is a young and inspiring coach who has worked in a number of clubs, universities and local authorities, including her present job where she has been instrumental in building one of the top age group squads in Scotland. Brayson’s passion and enthusiasm for the sport will enable her to oversee various club duties and take a leading role in the development of youth swimming in the city. She will commence her new post in early October.

The Club is also pleased to announce that Lewis Smith joins the programme in September as part of the sportscotland and Scottish Swimming ‘Coaching Futures’ programme. Smith, a double Commonwealth Games finalist in the 400 IM, has recently retired from competing and will now spend the next two years with the team undertaking a variety of evolving coaching roles within the expanding city wide network.

On top of these two key coaching appointments, the Club is thrilled to appoint current senior swimmer and Junior Foundation coach Victoria MIlburn to the newly created position of ‘Club Development Officer’. This exciting post is part-funded through sportscotland’s Direct Club Investment programme and will see Milburn take charge of the club’s development plan, overseeing membership growth and various projects aimed at swimmer retention and volunteer recruitment.

Smith takes up his role in September while Brayson and Milburn will commence their new positions in early October.

All three will no doubt all be great assets to the team that Head Performance Coach Ian Wright is gradually putting together in Scotland’s biggest city.
