Psych sheets are out for the San Diego-Imperial-hosted Carlsbad Sectionals, and even with 2 of the LSC’s teams competing at the College Station, Texas edition instead, the meet is loaded with talent.

Among those on the psych sheets are National Age Group Record holder and Jr. Pan Pac Champion Claire Tuggle. She’s swum sparingly since last summer, but swam a 2:01 in the 200 meter free at the PSS – Knoxville and has begun to warm up to the short course season, including a 1:47 in the 200 free and 4:49 in the 500 free at a local meet 2 weeks ago.

She’s scheduled to swim 6 races this weekend: the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 1000 free, and 200 IM. She’s the top seed in the 200, 500, and 1000.

Also scheduled to race at the meet is Ayla Spitz, a Cal Commit who won both of her races, the 100 fly and 100 back, at December’s Yucaipa Sectionals.  She’s the top seed in the 100 free and the 2nd seed, behind Tuggle, in the 200 free.

On the men’s side, 19-year old pro swimmer Michael Andrew will race for the first time under his Race Pace Club’s official new San Diego-Imperial LSC membership. He is the top seed, by far, in all 5 of his events, and will swim a typically-diverse schedule: the 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly, 100 breast, and 200 IM. 17-year old NOVA swimmer Sean Slusiewicz will be his best challenger in 2 of those races: the 100 free and 100 fly.
