Cleveland State has announced the hiring of Pieter Ritz as the program’s new assistant coach. Ritz comes to the team from another Ohio-based school, the University of Cincinnati, where he spent the last 3 seasons as an assistant with the Bearcats.
Ritz is an alumnus of Cleveland State, where he graduated from in 2012 with a degree in communication and film. As a senior, he earned the Men’s Swimming Leadership Award, and he served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council for 3 years.
Ritz spent 1 season as a volunteer assistant and meet coordinator at Florida Gulf Coast, where the school won a conference title in 2015, and as a graduate assistant at Division II Henderson State University.
Ritz will join a new-look coaching staff at Cleveland State for the 2019-2020 season under head coach Hannah Burandt. Burandt took over as head coach after the team finished the season without its prior head coach Paul Graham. Ritz joins a young staff that includes Ben Colley.
The Cleveland State women finished 4th out of 7 teams at last year’s Horizon League Championships, while the men finished 2nd out of 7 teams.
Perfect Fit!
I still don’t know why Graham resigned.

All the article indicated was that CSU confirmed the resignation. CSU did not provide a reason for the resignation. Some comments, however, speculated on why Graham resigned.
Did he leave UC without a job? Or does UC have a second assistant opening this summer?
I believe that Scott Fortier took his spot: https://staging.swimswam.com/cincinnati-names-scott-fortier-as-assistant-coach/
It’s my understanding that Pieter resigned at Cincinnati very early in the summer, so this isn’t a “high and dry” situation.
