Thursday evening was strictly distance events and relays in Orlando.
New Jersey’s Scarlet Aquatics ruled the women’s 1500 and men’s 800. It was 14-year-old Junseo Kim who took the women’s 1500 win at 17:05.77. That was a drop of over six seconds from her seed, and almost two seconds ahead of 2nd place Marcella Ruppert-Gomez (17:07.59) of Gulliver Swim Club. In the men’s 800, Jackson Karofsky swam an 8:22.62 to touch ahead of Clearwater Aquatic Team’s Alfonso Mestre (8:23.54).
Club Seminole, the club team affiliated with Florida State University, combined for the win at 1:53.96 in the women’s 200 medley relay. Led off by Tayla Lovemore‘s 30.25, it was Natalie Pierce who delivered a great 30.89 split on the breaststroke leg. Leila Johnston was 27.59 swimming fly, while Nicole Blank anchored in a 25.23. Club Seminole also dominated the men’s 200 medley relay, as Chad Mylin (26.06), Juan Sequera (28.51), William Pisani (25.08) and John Vann (23.23) combined for a 1:42.88.
Winning the 200 free relay were the Club Seminole women again at 1:45.73, getting a 26.17 from Blank. The men touched first at 1:32.70, with Mylin (22.73) and Pisani (22.83) getting them off to a very strong start. Blank was a tad faster leading off Club Seminole’s winning mixed 200 free relay with a 25.97.
Finally, Scarlet Aquatics grabbed a relay win in the mixed 200 medley relay. They went 1:54.65, winning by four tenths over East Coast Aquatic Club (1:55.09).
