While many of the top American swimmers will be at the Pro Swim Series meet in Mission Viejo, California this weekend, other portions of the nation’s elite swimmers will be racing in other concentrations – including one in Sarasota, Florida this weekend.

There, some of the biggest and fastest teams from across the United States will be racing, headlined by Olympic gold and bronze medalist Cody Miller. He’s entered as the top seed in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke.

Miller, who trains as a post-graduate at the University of Indiana, represents his childhood club the Sandpipers of Nevada in most club competitions. He’ll be racing this weekend in Florida under their banner, along with a number of other big names that train regularly with the club.

That includes the team’s talented women’s distance group, with names like US National Teamer Erica Sullivan, 15-year old Bella Sims, 15-year old Katie Grimes, 16-year old Paige Kuwata, and 15-year old Abby Dunford.

Other swimmers who don’t train with Sandpipers, but who have an arrangement to represent them at club meets, will be in attendance too. That includes former NCAA sprint standout Bowe Becker and Olympic gold medalist Blake Pieroni.

In addition to the Sandpipers and the hosts from the Sarasota Sharks, which have a roster that includes National Teamer Emma Weyant and National Age Group Record breaker Liam Custer, a number of other recognizable teams will be in attendance, including:

  • Bluefish (Rhode Island/Massachusetts)
  • Hilltoppers (Colorado)
  • Club Wolverine (Michigan)
  • Carmel Swim Club (Indiana)
  • Fort Collins Area Swim Team (Colorado)
  • Dynamo Swim Club (Georgia)
  • Rose Bowl Aquatics (California)

This means names like Lucy BellAnna ShawArie VoloschinEmma WeberRye UlettNatalie MannionGriffin HadleyCaleb MaldariRex MaurerGus RothrockWill Barao, and Summer Smith are all scheduled to be in attendance as well.

Racing will be run with short course prelims sessions and long course finals sessions. The 1500 free will be run as a long course timed final only, and there will be no 800 meter or 1000 yard free.
