Day 4 of Cody Miller‘s week-long daily workout series, where he gives insights into an actual full week of training,
This video includes 2 tips to faster breaststroke – from a swimmer who won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in the 100 breast. He says the two things that all of the world’s best breaststokers are doing right now are a very narrow kick, and a very fast recovery. (he discusses this around the 3:00 mark).
That’s fitting, because Thursday’s are a high-technique day for Miller and the rest of the Indiana pros. In the mornings, they do station work, which includes peer coaching, to work through really fine-tuning technique work. They then roll off of that into what Miller calls “a lot of high intensity breaststroke with a lot of technical work,” and his favorite workout of the week.
The set included 3 best-average sets, one that was kicking, one that was pulling, and one that was full swimming. He ended it with a 75 push for time, which he did in 41.2.
Today’s cameos include one from Margo Geer, a two-time NCAA Champion and 23-time All-American, who does not apparently have much of an affinity for breaststroke, as well as from fellow sprint freestyler Amanda Kendall.
