The San Diego state women swept all five relays and broke a pool record in the closing 400 free relay, going 3:19.98 to break the old record of 3:20.10. That relay was buoyed by leadoff swimmer Anika Apostalon, who went 49.2.

The Hawaii men also swept the relays on the men’s side.

A pair of post-grad swimmers combined to rewrite the pool record board at East Los Angeles College. Former Fresno Pacific star Cheyenne Coffman broke three pool records and three Arena Invite meet records over the course of the weekend. She went 22.09 to win the 50, shattering meet and pool records in the process. Later in the meet she did the same in the 100 back (51.91) and 100 free (48.24). In that 100 free race, she was pushed by San Diego State freshman Anika Apostalon, who also got under the records, going 48.40.

Former Califorina Golden Bear Sean Mahoney smashed pool and meet records of his own by going 1:54.85 in the 200 breast. Although the race wasn’t as close as Coffman’s 100 free win, there were also two swimmers under the pool and meet record times – UCSD senior Nicholas Korth went 1:56.26 for second place.

Other notable swims: Hawaii’s Victor Goicoechea won three events, reigning from the 200 free up to the mile. He was 1:36.91 in the 200, 4:20.83 in the 500 and 15:15.14 in the 1650.

Freshman Margaux Verger Gourson was 4:49.70 to win the women’s 500. San Jose State senior Ashlyn Acosta won the womens 100 fly in a nice time of 53.61, and men’s 100 fly winner Karl-Richard Hennebach was also fast, going 47.78.

Nicholas Korth won the men’s 100 breast in a race that saw two  men get under 54 seconds – Korth was 53.59 and Hawaii’s Paulo de Paula was 53.78.
