Multi-time CIS Champion Coleman Allen broke a Canada West record today at the Canada West meet on his way to a gold medal in the 50m fly.
Allen swam a swift 23.91 to break the previous mark of 24.14 set by Kelly Aspinall back in 2009. Allen is no stranger to success at the meet, winning the Canada West Swimmer of the Year award last year for his efforts.
Allen won two golds at last year’s CIS championships and is looking fast considering that the CIS Championships are less then a month away. Allen and the Thunderbirds are one of the top teams heading into the event, and clearly the favourites at the Canada West meet.
Allen’s record was the only one of the night to fall, but the meet has two more full days of swimming for Canadians to improve the Canada West marks.
