Collan Herby To Transfer To Cleveland State

After finishing his freshman year at the University of South Dakota, Collan Herby will be transferring to Cleveland State University to compete for the Vikings.

Herby was named the rookie of the year at South Dakota and was one of the top swimmers on the team, most notably for his performances in the butterfly events. At the Summit League Championships, Herby’s best placement was seventh in both the 100 and 200 fly’s.

In the 100 fly Herby put up a time of 50.66 and was a 1:51.62 in the 200. Herby also swam the 200 IM where he was a 1:58.77.

The Cleveland State Vikings will be working towards the Horizon League Championships in Rochester, Michigan in late February.

Last season Cleveland State University finished seventh overall in the women’s rankings and sixth in the men’s. With the addition of Herby who can score points in both fly events, the CSU men will be looking to move up in the rankings.

Cleveland State’s best swimmer Phillipp Sikatzki should make a great training partner for Herby. Sikatszki rocked a 46.96 at last year’s Horizon League Championships in the 100 fly and a 46.98 in the 100 back.

Commenting on his past season with the University of South Dakota Herby said, “I worked very hard this past year and have learned a lot.”
