This is the busiest meet schedule of the season with a total of 89 dual meets. This week also includes a lot of top 25 match ups and rivalries.

In the Big Ten, Michigan will have back-to-back meets against conference foes. On Friday, they will take on Indiana before hosting Ohio State. The OSU women are ranked #5, Indiana is ranked #9, and Michigan is ranked #14. #4 Indiana leads the way on the men’s side, followed by #11 Ohio State, and #17 Michigan.
Virginia will host a tri-meet against ACC foes UNC and NC State. The Virginia women are the #1 ranked team while NC State is ranked #7. NC State has the advantage on the men’s side as they are ranked #5 and Virginia is ranked #16.
The SEC is highlighted by dual meets with Auburn vs Alabama and LSU vs Texas A&M. The Auburn men are ranked #14 while Alabama is #19, and the Alabama women are ranked at #19, one spot ahead of #20 Auburn.
Cal and Stanford will both will take on Arizona and Arizona State. The biggest matchup will be between the Cal and Arizona State men as ASU is ranked #1 while Cal is ranked #2. Arizona State won the dual meet between the two teams last year before also going on to win the Pac-12 title. Cal ended up winning the 2023 NCAA title.

It’ll still be one sided even if Cal suits up. They’re no match for ASU this year without their typical international additions
can’t wait for asu to absolutely smash cal but this time there’s no February 50 point addition in hugo gonzalez, February addition multiple A-cut distance stud Henveaux, safesport list occupant Trenton Julian, or February addition US olympian Bryce Mefford to bail the team out.
This is just in the last 2 years btw, i could go on.

Don’t mistake the team crying for fans crying. There’s a huge difference.
Yeah but….usually in these situations, we see both the teams crying AND the fans crying.
Well you certainly know better than I, Braden. I would be surprised if last year there was a significant amount of crying from Dave Durden, Dave Marsh, other staff & the Cal swimmers themselves (tell me I’m wrong if I am). I think it’s a fact that Cal fans on swim swam were complaining, though, no doubt there. Those are 2 very different groups: team vs fans. Fans are quick to cry/complain while (hopefully) championship teams are not.
I mean – when ASU absolutely flattened Cal at last year’s dual meet, the comment sections were buzzing alive with Cal fans crying “unsuited, unshaved”; disregarding the fact that for one, in the ultimate perspective, they were right (Cal did win NCAA’s), and that Cal’s general attitude towards dual meets is bad for the sport, some of them were definitely crying (I assume this is what we are talking about, if not: open mouth, insert foot).
If Cal does not suit up and ASU suits up as they have for every meet this season, it gives Cal and excuse for losing. The ASU team is much stronger this year than they were last year plus they take dual meets seriously and swim to win.
Well, yea, that’s what I’m trying to point out. The Cal fans on swim swam were certainly complaining or generally making excuses. I don’t think there’s too much disputing of that; we can just go look at last year’s article. What I’m pointing out is that the fans are a completely separate group from the team itself and they should not be lumped together.

It is so sad to see that GW is hosting the last meet EVER in their own pool before it becomes a practice basketball court and there is no longer an on-campus facility … will be a great DC rivalry to end the era, though 🙁

Last year Stanford and Cal traveled to Arizona so this year it is Arizona’s teams turns to travel to California
