Colorado 4A Record-holder Lindsay Stenstrom Makes Verbal Commitment to UCLA

Lindsay Stenstrom, a junior at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, has verbally committed to swim for the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019-20.

“It’s been a dream of mine to swim for UCLA since I was a little girl…I am honored to be the newest addition to this amazing Bruins program.  The team, coaching staff, as well as all of the incredible academic opportunities UCLA offers make it the perfect place to spend my collegiate years. I am so excited to be a Bruin!”

Stenstrom is the daughter of two former Pac-12 athletes; her mother Lori Heisick was an NCAA Champion and American Record swimmer at Stanford. Her father, Steve Stenstrom, played quarterback for the Cardinal and later went on to start in the NFL for both the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers. Her older sister, Brooke Stenstrom, is a sophomore at Stanford.

Lindsay Stenstrom currently swims for the Denver Swim Academy and Valor Christian High School. She is a three-time NISCA All-American and was the 2017 Colorado 4A state champion in the 50 free. She was also a member of two Valor Christian state-champion and 4A record-breaking relays in her junior season at the 2018 CHSAA Girls 4A State Championships: the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay. Individually, she finished 6th in both the 50 free (24.17) and 100 free (52.29) in February.

In club swimming, Stenstrom focuses on free and back. Since the summer long course season, when she earned PBs in the 50/100 free and 50/100/200 back, Stenstrom has registered best times in the SCY 200/500 free and 100/200 back. She competed at Winter Juniors West in the 50 free and 100/200 back, and her best SCY times include:

  • 200 back: 2:00.48
  • 50 free: 23.98
  • 100 free: 51.55
