Mary Saiz won the 200 backstroke in an automatic qualifying time of 1:59.86 highlighted the final day of action at the A3 Performance CMU Invite Saturday (Dec. 3).

The CMU men and women both won the team titles.

“I am extremely pleased with the way that both our women and men competed over the past three days in the pool and on the diving boards,” said head coach Geoff Hanson. “To get individuals qualified for the NCAA Championship at this point of the season is a great step toward what we want to accomplish in February and March. This group bought into the team concept from day one back in August and hit the ground running and I think that two women’s relay school records (200 free relay and 400 free relay) are evidence of that. It was great to see them get a little bit of the payoff for their hard work, but with more than two months until the conference championship meet and three months until the NCAA Championships there is a lot more work to be done.  We’ll regroup and reevaluate things in the coming days, but we are in a great place mid-season as a team and I’m very proud of this group.”

Mary Saiz anchored the 400 free relay to a win in a NCAA “B” cut time of 3:26.90. The time broke the school-record by over five seconds and is currently the third fastest in Div. II. Other members of the team included Marissa Bradley, Sam White and Madelin McClain.

Marissa Bradley also swam a NCAA “B” cut time of 52.15 to finish third in the 100 free.

Miranda Reetz finished second in the 200 breaststroke with a NCAA “B” cut time of 2:21.11.

Sam Bryant earned a NCAA “B” cut in the 1,650 free with a fifth place finish in a time of 16:22.09.

Sage D’Ambrosia won the one-meter with a school-record and NCAA qualifying score of 323.90. Shane Gilman also earned a NCAA qualifying score of 263.90 to finish second. Noah Macomber finished third (257.00) and Eric Lammon was fourth (224.40).

Brittany Dixon finished third (229.10) on the one-meter springboard, with Kelsey Vreeman placing fourth (223.60) and Cassie Blakeman fifth (213.00).

The Mavericks won four other events on the night.

Sky Hirsch won the 100 free in a NCAA “B” cut time of 45.86. Eric Berg won the 200 back (1:54.65), and Chris Radomski won the 200 fly (1:54.39).

The men’s 400 free relay of Noah Beaver, Chris Radomski, Morgan Bean and Josh Bedford won in a time of 3:05.00.

In the women’s 200 fly, Eryn Leonard finished second (2:09.67), Candice Rosen third (2:10.33) and Danielle Fournier fourth (2:10.97).

Josh Bedford finished second (2:07.85), Ryan Gifford was third (2:08.14) and Logan Wagner was fifth (2:10.55) in the 200 breaststroke.

Ethan McNally placed second (1:54.75) in the 200 back, and Seth Ogden was fifth (2:00.91).

Kat Gerstmar was third (18:05.90) in the 1,650, and Hanna Sangfelt was fourth in the 200 back (2:08.35).

Madelin McClain placed fifth in the women’s 100 free, and Noah Beaver was fifth in the men’s (46.84).

Sam White was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.03), and Maggie Hellard was fifth (2:28.68).

Jake Glasgow finished fifth in the 200 fly in a time of 2:03.22.

Colorado Mesa will host Western State Jan. 5^th.
