Colorado State Returns Home To Host Northern Arizona For Senior Day

Press Release courtesy of Colorado State Athletics

Coming off one of the best team performances of the season, the Colorado State swimming & diving squad will host Northern Arizona for a dual meet at Moby Pool on Friday at 5 p.m. MT.

CSU will honor three seniors – Rowan Hauber, Colleen Olson and Gianna Salanitro – in a ceremony pre-meet. The first diving event will take place at 4:15 p.m. The meet will be streamed live at CSURams.com/live.

The Rams are coming off a fantastic effort on Monday in San Diego, where they beat league foes San Diego State, New Mexico and Fresno State. They’ll be looking to keep the momentum going heading into this home dual.

“Hopefully they’re feeling good and confident and they’re not just looking ahead at conference,” head coach Christopher Woodard said. “They looked good in the water this morning, and I expect that to continue all the way through the week.”

CSU has been led all season by four standout swimmers that have all earned NCAA B Standard qualifying times – Hauber, junior Tonicia Thomas, sophomore Marie Goodwyn and freshman Maddie Ward. That group performed well again at San Diego, leading a supercharged Rams squad to victory.

“They definitely lead by example when it comes to performances,” Woodard said about the four swimmers. “For the most part they remain calm and under control. When others might be a little nervous about who they’re swimming against, they can look to these four for inspiration and motivation. The nice thing about it is there’s one of them in each class. Hopefully in our freshman class next year we will have the same thing.”

Northern Arizona is the defending WAC champion and owns dual meet victories over a pair of MW teams this season – Air Force and New Mexico. In their first meet of the new year, the Lumberjacks fell at Arizona, 154.5-137.5 (Jan. 5).

Admission to CSU home swim meets at Moby Pool is free.
