FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Unofficially, the team will take to the wide open to put the upcoming season in motion, one in which Colorado State women’s swimming and diving will host a pair of meets at the Moby Pool in the month of October.

After getting back in the competitive mind frame at the Horsetooth Open Water on Sept. 12, the season officially opens Oct. 1-2 at the Intermountain Shootout, hosted by Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction. The Rams’ first home meet will bring in Denver on Oct. 15, then they swim the first of four scheduled double duals the following day at the Colorado School of Mines; the University of Mary will also be in attendance.

Senior Day will be held Oct. 22 when the team hosts Idaho (Oct. 22). The first Mountain West competition comes at the beginning of November as the Rams travel to Laramie to square off with Wyoming and Colorado Mesa.

The slate includes a trio of invitationals, including the Phill Hansel Invite at Houston (Nov. 18-20), the last competition for the squad before the turn of the calendar. After the break, the Rams have a pair of Mountain West double duals on the road, facing San Diego State and Fresno State (Jan. 7) in San Diego, followed by a trip to Air Force (Jan. 22), where they face the Falcons and New Mexico. The swimming portion of the regular season ends with a trip to Greeley for an in-state showdown with Northern Colorado (Jan. 29). The divers conclude the regular season with the Air Force Diving Invitational (Feb. 3-5).

The Mountain West Championships will take place Feb. 16-19, with the location still being finalized.

Colorado State is coming off a shortened 2020-21 season, with the team going 1-4 in duals but capping the season with a record-point total at the Mountain West Championships in a fifth-place finish. Five All-Mountain West performers – Kristina Friedrichs, Anika Johnson, Liza Lunina, Abbey Owenby and Hannah Sykes – return to the roster, which has been bolstered by the addition of six freshmen.
