Columbia Swim Club Pair Verbals to Boise State, North Dakota

Two seniors of the Columbia Swim Club Tigersharks in Columbia, Missouri have made their verbal commitments to Division I programs. Brittany Wen of Hickman High School has decided on Boise State, while Jordan Gramlich of Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City has decided on the University of North Dakota.

This past season, Wen grabbed a state title in the girls’ 500 free at Missouri High School State Championships with 4:54.94 and a runner-up slot in the 200 IM with 2:05.18. This summer, she had the chance to compete at Speedo Junior Nationals (LCM), swimming 1:03.68 in the 100 fly and 2:20.58 in the 200 fly. Her best SCY times are below:

  • 200 free: 1:51.57
  • 500 free: 4:54.94
  • 100 fly: 56.14
  • 200 fly: 2:01.99
  • 200 IM: 2:03.77
  • 400 IM: 4:24.31

Boise State competes in the Mountain West Conference, and Wen has the chance to make an immediate impact. Her 500 free, 100 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 fly would have B finaled at last season’s Mountain West Conference Championships, giving head coach Jeremy Kipp a lot of flexibility in choosing her events.

Though Jordan Gramlich’s high school does not sponsor swimming, her short-axis specialty should prove an asset to the North Dakota team. Her best times (in SCY) are listed below:

  • 100 fly: 58.33
  • 200 fly: 2:11.36
  • 100 breast: 1:05.99
  • 200 breast: 2:23.87

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks finished sixth last year at the 2016 WAC Swimming & Diving Championships, and Gramlich’s times in the 100 fly, 200 fly, 100 breast, and 200 breast all would have hit the C final.
