HANOVER, N.H. – The Columbia women’s swimming and diving team (4-3) finished off the 2022-23 regular season on Saturday afternoon, with a convincing, 197-78, victory over the Dartmouth Big Green (1-9) in New Hampshire.
“Today was a great day for us,” Head Coach Diana Caskey said. “We had the opportunity to switch up events and race combinations we don’t usually have the chance to race, which will be extremely beneficial for us moving forward. This meet capped off an intense week of training, and I was really happy with our performance across the board. Looking forward to Ivys.”
It was another amazing day for the women, and the divers set the tone right out of the gate. Alice Diakova came out on top in the 3-meter dive to kick off the meet, putting up a score of 292.80. Macy Pine (283.65) and Chloe Leung (237.30), finished second and third, respectively, for the Lions to finish off the sweep. Later in the afternoon, the same trio completed a sweep in the 1-meter event, Diakova leading the way again with a score of 287.33 and Leung right behind her with a score of 267.23 (both zone diving qualifying scores).
“Today was our final dual meet of the regular season, and our women divers showed up and showed out,” Assistant Diving Coach Brian Allen said. “Two Lions secured NCAA Zone Qualifying scores on the 1-meter, and Olivia Ricard finished her diving career in style on both boards. All around great day, and I’m really proud of the team.”
The Lions also had a ton of success in the pool, setting two pool records on the day. The first was in the 200-free relay as the group of Emily MacDonald, Isabelle Arevalo, Sally Ma, and Olivia Jubin touched the wall with a mark of 1:33.21. The other pool record was in the 100-breast, when Jubin finished in first place with a time of 1:02.88.
Riley Pujadas won the first individual event of the day, taking the 1000-free with a time of 10:25.97.
Julia Unas followed that up with a win in the 100-back, clocking in at 57.63.
Columbia won 10 events in a row to kick off the competition, highlighted by Grace Zhou who won the 200-fly with a time of 2:03.36.
Allegra Walker finished things off with a victory in the 500-free, touching the wall at 5:03.93.
