Converse College overpowers Lady Lions 122 to 87

The EC Women’s swim team traveled to Spartanburg, SC to compete against Converse College (NCAA Div. II) on their senior night. The meet consisted of 12 events and included the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 100 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 IM, 50 Fly, and the 200 Free Relay.

“Congrats to Coach White and his Women’s team on the win. This was a great opportunity for our Ladies to compete against an established NCAA Div. II swim team and experience what senior night is like!”

The Lady Lions 200 Medley relay (Tobo, Gonzalez, Tamblyn, Wright) started the meet off with a new school record and NAIA national cut in the 200 Medley Relay (2:02.19).

Some other highlights of the meet include:

Diana Tobo finished first in the 50 back with a winning time of 29.32 and first in the 100 back with a winning time of 1:02.76 (NAIA national cut). Emma Tamblyn finished second in the 50 breast with a time of 35.33 and third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:17.13. Laura Gonzalez Finished first in the 50 fly with a winning time of 29.42 and third in the 100 fly with a time of 1:05.48.

In the final event of the night the 200 Free Relay (Tamblyn, Gratz, Gonzalez, Tobo) finished second with a time of 1:50.34 (1 second off the EC school record and another NAIA national cut).

Next up, the Lady Lions compete against Darton State College (Albany, GA) on Saturday, January 18.
