Liberty posted a 2-1 record at this weekend’s BYU Invite which wrapped up Saturday at BYU’s Richards Building Pool.

The Lady Flames (6-2) defeated UC Davis (237-135) and Dixie State (292-71) while falling 224-148 to the host Cougars. BYU (7-0) went 3-0, while UC Davis (4-3) finished 1-2 and Dixie State (0-3) went 0-3.

Liberty Event Winners
• 400 medley relay – 3:48.73 (Payton Keiner, Jessica Schellenboom, Lindsey Cohee, Emma Hazel)

• Jr. Payton Keiner – 200 back (1:58.93)

• Jr. Lindsey Cohee – 100 fly (55.87)

Notable
• On Saturday, BYU won five individual events and one relay while Liberty earned two individual-event victories and one relay win. For the meet as a whole, Liberty won six individual events and two relays while BYU won 10 individual events and two relays.

• Liberty’s 400 medley relay posted the fastest time in the event for the team so far this season (3:48.73). Keiner (200 back – 1:58.93) and Cohee (100 fly – 55.87) swam the fastest times in their respective events by any Lady Flame this season.

• Keiner has won the 200 backstroke each of the last five times she has contested it, dating back to last season. That also includes a 2019 CCSA title in the event. Cohee was won the 100 fly twice this season.

• Liberty is 2-1 all-time against BYU in swimming & diving, as the Lady Flames defeated the Cougars 232-118 on Oct. 26-27, 2018 and also downed BYU 219-173 at the 2016 Intermountain Shootout. The Lady Flames met UC Davis and Dixie State for the first time.

• The Lady Flames are now 6-1 all-time in the Mountain Time Zone, first defeating BYU, Air Force, Utah and Colorado Mesa at the 2016 Intermountain Shootout.

• Liberty is 29-2 in its last 31 dual meets overall.

The Lady Flames will host an in-season invitational for the second year in a row, as the TYR ’85 Invite will take place Nov. 22-24 at the Liberty Natatorium.

PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s swim team finished its final day of the BYU Invitational, defeating all three opponents.

“It was a great two-day meet for our women,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “I’m really proud of our women because they are undefeated. They haven’t had a strong season like this in a while and they have come together, worked hard and it’s paying off. We had great races today; they did an amazing job.”

The Cougars came away victorious by scoring 314-49 against Dixie State, 224-148 against Liberty and 282-90 against UC Davis.

Results Final Day

BYU earned the top-three places in the 200-yard breaststroke with Katie McBratney in first at 2:17.51, Lily Plaudis in second at 2:21.50 and Mariah Lindsay following in third with a 2:25.04.

The Cougars had several other first-place finishes, including Gwen Gustafson winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.93 and Brynn Sproul taking first in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:03.92. McBratney added another win for the team with a 2:04.53 finish in the 200-yard individual medley.

A squad of Gustafson, Tiare CokerKali Brown and Katie Smith closed out the meet with a first-place touch of 1:34.94 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The divers competed in the platform event and owned the scoreboard. Kaela Call-Harries landed in first, scoring a 188.30 while teammates Morgan Paul and Kennedy Cribbs followed in second and third with scores of 187.40 and 183.00, respectively.

The Cougars will have a week off before they travel to Columbia, Missouri, for the Missouri Invitational scheduled for Nov. 20-22 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.

Provo, Utah – The Aggies wrapped up a two-day program Saturday afternoon in Utah by putting the finishing touches on a 285-78 win over Dixie State but fell to MPSF foe BYU 282-90 and Liberty University 237-135 in the four-way dual.

Jamie Pincin set a new season and team best in the 100 Free with her third place finish in 52.52. UC Davis also got a third place finish from Julie Kwan in the 200 Back in 2:08.62.

Cora McClelland and Ashley Ma scored in the 100 Fly, going 4-5 in 57.16 and 57.48 respectively. The Aggies’ 200 Free Relay “A” squad of Mia Facey, Pincin, Mia Cunnan, and Kyla Leacox took third in 1:35.95, a new season best, to round out the scoring on Saturday.

UC Davis will now have just under two weeks to get ready for the Phill Hansel Invitational at the University of Houston from Nov. 21-23 with Winter Nationals for a select group in Atlanta looming the first week of December.

Dixie State’s women’s swimming team posted two more all-time marks and recorded five total top-10 event finishes on the final day of competition at the BYU Invitational held on Saturday at the BYU Richards Building Pool. DSU finished fourth in the four-team meet against host BYU, Liberty and UC Davis.

The Trailblazers began the day with sixth and ninth-place team finishes in the 400-yard medley relay, with the team of Gracie KrollHannah HansenKyrie Sutherland and Kelsea Wright leading the way with DSU event season best time of 4:02.56 (#8 all-time at DSU).

Later in the day, Hansen recorded the best overall individual finish by a Trailblazer as she touched the wall in fifth-overall in the 200 breast at 2:26.08, while Wright placed ninth in the 100 free with a time of 53.77. Then in the final event of the meet, the team of Miriam GonzalezAudrey HydeClaire Kieffer and Sutherland took sixth in the 200 free relay with a DSU event season best time of 1:39.43 (#8 all-time at DSU).

Dixie State will host its first-ever on-campus meet next Saturday, Nov. 16, as the Trailblazers welcome in Biola for a dual meet. The first event will begin at 11 a.m., at DSU’s new Olympic-size HPC Building Pool.
