This afternoon USA Swimming announced that the World Championship Team in Doha selected their team captains for the meet.
Natalie Coughlin and Caitlin Leverenz were selected as captain for the women’s team while Matt Grevers and Eugene Godsoe were named team captains for the men. Eugene Godsoe made this comment on twitter expressing his excitement and appreciation for his new role. Several of the other captains shared his sentiment and retweeted his tweet.
Wow. Honored to represent the USA as a team captain here in Doha. Racing starts tomorrow, time to go fast. #goUSA

All four of these athletes have experience at the FINA World Championships, whether that be short course of long course. Both Grevers and Coughlin have medaled at previous SC World Championships.
The meet begins Wednesday, December 3rd, with prelims starting at 9:30 am local time (1:30 am eastern time). For all the links you need to follow along with the 2014 FINA SC World Championships, click here.
Strange mix for the us team with a few established veterans carrying the load but a lot of first timers. I predict the us will not even come close to the 2010 and 2012 medal totals.
