Western Kentucky University freshman Amy Crayne earned Conference USA Diver of the Week for her performance at the Hilltopper Open last weekend, the league announced Tuesday.
The honor comes as the second in a row for the WKU diver and third for WKU this season. The Hilltoppers and Lady Toppers are currently competing as an affiliate of C-USA before joining the conference as a full member in July 2014.
Crayne, originally from Rio Linda, Calif., remains undefeated in dual meets after the boards at the Hilltopper Open. Crayne set two pool records and a school record in the competition. She posted a pool and school-record score of 297.60 in the one meter, which is the best score in the league this season. She then tabbed 288.67 points on the three meter, another pool record. Although she has already qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships, both of the scores were qualifying marks.
WKU completed its first half of competition with the Hilltopper Open. After a group of swimmers compete at the USA Short-Course National Championships in Knoxville Dec. 5-7, the whole team will reunite for its annual training trip in Florida. They return to competition on Jan. 11 against Florida Atlantic and Nova Southeastern.
