For more commitment articles, be sure to check out SwimSwam’s College Recruiting channel.

Sarah Finlay, from St. Louis, Missouri, has made a verbal commitment to Dartmouth College. Finlay is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American senior at Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School.

“Dartmouth is the perfect fit for me because it is a place where I can grow as an individual, both in and out of the pool. I felt at home the first time I visited the campus and the swim team could not have been more welcoming. I am so excited about the amazing opportunities for me in the next four years at the school and as a part of Dartmouth Swimming!”

Finlay, who swims for CSP Tideriders, is primarily a backstroker, with Summer Juniors qualifying standards in the 200m back. She has competed at the last two Winter Juniors in a row and will race the 100/200 back and 200 IM in Austin this December.

Finlay placed 24th at NCSA Summer Juniors in the 200m back, and fourth at Central Region VIII Sectionals with 2:18. She has finaled in the 200 back at Sectionals the last four years running, and was runner-up in the event in 2013.

Finlay’s best times are:

  SCY LCM
100 Free 53.88 1:00.64
200 Free 1:52.63 2:08.04
500 Free 5:01.52 4:31.70
100 Back 57.40 1:05.91
200 Back 2:02.03 2:18.06
200 IM 2:07.71 2:26.62

Finlay would have been Dartmouth’s top scorer in the 200 back at 2015 Ivy League Women’s Championships, landing somewhere in the B final. She also could have scored in the C finals of the 200 free, 500 free, and 100 back.

*DISCLAIMER: Finlay has not yet been officially accepted to Dartmouth. As is true with all Ivy League schools, Dartmouth’s Admission Office will not send its acceptance letter until the beginning of December, along with those of all Early Action candidates. The procedure for a recruited athlete at Dartmouth is for Admissions to review (her) transcript and SAT scores, “support (her) application for admissions in the fall,” issue a Likely Letter, then offer (her) acceptance into the class of 2020.
