CSU Mountain West Diver of Week Ariana Milone

Colorado State diver Ariana Milone has been named this week’s Mountain West Women’s Diver of the Week. The award, which was announced by the conference Wednesday morning, is Milone’s second of her young career.

The sophomore diver from The Woodlands, Texas, took first place on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards last weekend in a dual meet against Denver.

On the 1-meter springboard, Milone set a personal best with a score of 288.25, good for fourth in CSU history. On the 3-meter board, she totaled a score of 299.25. Both rank sixth in the MW this season and were NCAA-qualifying scores, making her eligible for NCAA Zones in March, and the possibility of diving at the NCAA Championships later that month.

The two first-place finishes earned CSU 18 total points in the meet, the maximum possible amount for the two events.

As a team, the divers have had great success through two weeks of the season. In four events, Milone has taken first three times and second in the other. The Rams took first through third on the 1-meter board last weekend, while first and second on the 3-meter. A week prior, CSU took first through third on the 3-meter and first through sixth on the 1-meter. Still a young group, CSU had three divers qualify for NCAA Zones a year ago, the most since 2005 and tied for the second-most in the MW. All three divers returned this season for the Rams.

Milone, who also earned the MW Women’s Diver of the Week award after her collegiate debut last year at Denver, is the third diver in CSU history to earn at least two weekly awards, and the first two do so in her first two seasons.

The Rams (1-2) return to the pool Saturday, Nov. 9, for a dual meet vs. Northern Arizona at Moby Pool. The meet will begin at noon, and admission is free.
