Trinity Grammar School, located in New South Wales, Australia and home to 2012 Overall Male Winner of the FINA World Cup, Kenneth To, has finally opened its years-in-the-making 50m competition pool. This first stage of the Aquatic Centre, is an indoor facility, boasting 8 x 50m lanes or 16 x 25m lanes, constructed as a purpose-built swimming centre, set for exclusive use by students and squads of Trinity Grammar School.
Unique to the facility are 12 permanently-fixed cameras, which can track swimmers’ turns, starts and free swimming, both from an overhead angle, as well as head-on. The cameras work in conjunction with a wireless swimpro system, which is able to analyze and time starts and turns, among many other features. Footage can immediately be played back through sessions on TV monitors and via iPads on the pool deck.
As a professional swimmer, training for Rio in a cutting-edge facility makes the grind all that much more rewarding for To. In his words, “the new 50m indoor pool at Trinity Grammar School is incredible and adds further to the state–of–the–art facilities the School offers. Its opening will provide our squads with access to long and short-course training all year round, but an integrated camera system built for real-time high speed video analysis. Developed with high performance in mind, I know it will provide a great training environment for us this upcoming Olympic season and for future years to come.”
Underwater area is not finished yet.
But no underwater views?
Why on earth do the state and federal governments give this school over $10,000,000 per year?
Because every child gets a share of the education budget . The parents pay taxes ( hopefully) & if all these kids went to the State Schools it would cost more . The Catholic System gets a few Billion bucks just handed to them to do their job .
Further the school is a heritage value . It is part of what makes that area in Sydney attractive . I like to look over & see the buildings & well maintained grounds . I can assure you the value of the property surrounding Trinity is increased by its presence . Subsequently rates & land taxes recoup a lot of that back to the NSW govt .
Yeah JOHN , if every kid in NSW/AUST is allocated an amount per year, and parents want to pay more and then fund raise for a new pool ……more praise to them.
No we pay to go to the school that’s how they make these things happen.
