Daiya Seto, Ippei Watanabe Among Those Headed To JPN Professional Championships

5th JAPAN PROFESSIONAL SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

With the 2022 FINA Short Course Championships on the horizon, several of Japan’s biggest competitors will be racing this weekend at the 5th Japan Professional Swimming Championships.

Japan’s roster for Melbourne has already been announced, which means these Championships offer an additional opportunity to get some racing in one month out. And we’re seeing racers trying out some ‘off’ events, such as Katsuhiro Matsumoto taking on the 1500m freestyle, while Daiya Seto is entered in the 200m backstroke.

On the whole, the entries here are on the lighter side, especially for the women. For instance, there are only 3 swimmers entered in the 200m back and 5 in the 200m breast. Nonetheless, there are still key racers on which to keep our eyes as they descend upon Saga City.
