Night 2 of the Chesapeake Pro-Am in Oklahoma City saw some big name battles and a new meet record that could make for an interesting conversation on the next Dave and Gary post.

Cal post-grad Liv Jensen held off a back half charge from Dagny Knutson to take the first win of the session in the 200 Freestyle. Jensen was out fast, flipping at the 100 in 50.59. Knutson closed but ran out of room finishing in 1:46.35 behind Jensen’s winning time of 1:45.65.

Darian Townsend started off his session with a dominate win in the 200 free, eclipsing our very own David Cromwell’s meet record by .06 with a 1:33.55. Later in the evening he doubled up by winning the 400 IM in an impressive time of 3:43.80. Cal post-grad Sean Mahoney finished 2nd with a 3:50.52. He also finished 2nd in the 100 breaststroke behind PASA’s BJ Johnson who clocked a 52.86 ahead of Mahoney’s 53.03.

Canadian Olympian Jillian Tyler took the win in the women’s 100 breaststroke in front of 2-time US Olympian Megan Jendrick, 1:00.24 to 1:00.35. Tyler then stepped up in the next event, the 100 fly, and finished 2nd with a 56.05. 15 year old Kathryn McLaughlin from Mission Viejo dominated the field clocking a 53.37. Earlier in the session, Mclaughlin posted an impressive 1:47.20 in the 200 freestyle, good enough for 3rd.

Stanford grad assistant and former NCAA Champion Eugene Godsoe took the men’s 100 fly with a 45.63. Former Wisconsin All-American Adam Mania finished 2nd in 46.77.

Emily Brunemann, who finished 2nd in the 1000 free on night one, showed off her versatility by winning the 400 IM in 4:17.62.

Bobo, try this link:

I agree paying so much for results is ridiculous. Not everyone can afford smart phones and even apps don’t cost $7.99.

Other interesting results elsewhere in USA.
Kyle Gornay, 16, wasn’t far from the 200 free 15/16 NAG record with a 1.35.56 at California sectionals.
Gillian Ryan, 17, has swum a very fast 9.26.50 in the 1000 free on day 1 of the NBAC Christmas Meet. And on day 2 she has swum a disappointing 4.39.87 before a good 1.45.20 in the 200 free at the start of the relay. I think this girl has a big potential, and she can be with Katie Ledecky and Allison Schmitt the face of American girls from the 200 free to the 800 free. She still has to improve her speed to swim faster in the 500 free in SCY or in… Read more »

It isn’t a joke! You have to pay to have the results of this meet. They are crazy! Otherwise, you have to wait like me for the very nice swimming world or swimswam articles. Or you learn, by chance, thanks to twitter, that Eugene Godsoe has swum a very fast 44.75 in the 100 back on day 3.
Good to see Dagny Knutson who continues to improve. It will take time but she will be back at her best.
Katie McLaughlin is a young girl to follow on butterfly and on freestyle. She is very talented.

The “other” website says she trains during lap swim a couple hours a week… doesnt sound like she is making a serious go at anything
