KENTWOOD, Mich. – The Davenport University women’s swimming and diving team hosted its first meet of the season on Friday and Saturday and seemed happy to be back in its own pool. The Panthers swept their three opponents in the quad meet with scores of 947.5 for DU, 902.5 for Findlay, 777 for Hope, and 558 for Kalamazoo.
Davenport took home first place in five events including the 200 IM, 400 IM, one meter dive, 200 back, and 400 free relay. For those first two, freshman Emma Wallis continues to have a stellar rookie campaign as she finished with times of 2:08.57 and 4:35.81, respectively.
Before we get to the diving board, Lauren Bockheim (pictured), touched the wall first for the 200 back with a mark of 2:09.54. In the 400 free relay, the four Panthers competing were Wallis, Riley Faulkner, Jenna Schrotenboer, and Sara Mumby as they won with a time of 3:39.00. Lexis Mirandette and her twin sister Lacey Mirandette went one-two in the one meter diving with totals of 419.65 and 406.9, respectively.
In total, Davenport took home a second and/or third-place finish in 15 of the meet’s 19 events.
Next up, the Panthers will be at Ashland on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a one-on-one showdown with the Eagles in Ohio. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. in Messerly Natatorium.
