INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – USA Diving announced Tuesday the roster for Team USA for this month’s FINA Gold Coast Grand Prix in Southport, Australia. Four-time Olympic medalist David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.), who will compete for the first time since the 2016 Summer Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro, is among the four divers who will compete for Team USA in Australia.
After earning silver in men’s 10-meter synchro with Steele Johnson (Carmel, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) and bronze in the individual men’s 10-meter in Rio de Janeiro, Boudia took a year off to evaluate if he would retire or return to the sport. Shortly after announcing his return to diving, Boudia suffered a concussion that kept him away from most of 2018 competition.
“After two years of not competing, I am excited to get back into competition at the Gold Coast Grand Prix,” Boudia said. “This competition will present a unique challenge for me, as I will be competing in the men’s 3-meter event. I am looking forward to taking the next step toward my goal of representing Team USA in Tokyo.”
Team USA will also feature 2016 Olympian Katrina Young (Shoreline, Wash./Tallahassee, Fla.), 2018 World Cup bronze medalist Krysta Palmer (Carson City, Nev./Reno, Nev.) and Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Mich./Columbia, Mo.). The divers will be coached by Tracey Bird, with competition beginning Thursday, November 15 and concluding Sunday, November 18.
