David Marsh, SwimMAC head swim coach, previews 2013 World Championship Trials on day one after prelims.
Highlights of the morning include standout swims from Anthony Ervin, 48.72, in the men’s 100 free, a personal best for the mature…seasoned…veteran. Impressive! Marsh was also excited to see Caeleb Dressel’s 15-16 age group national record in the men’s 100 free, 49.63.
Marsh is looking forward to the men’s 100 butterfly later this week. He feels it’s a wide open event with a lot talent that can emerge.

GMM UPDATE PER NIEMANNATOR:
Ervin’s 100 PB is actually 48.33 from 2001 worlds in Fukuoka, where at first due to a timing error, PVH was said to be champion with a 48.4, and after celebrating and while the competitors were walking away from the pool, the clock had been changed to reflect Ervin’s win with the 48.3. PVH must’ve been pretty mad about that whole situation…
Thanks for the correction. Hopefully Ervin will go under 48.3 tonight.
