Last week, we posted that at the Greensboro Sectional Championship meet, Alyssa Marsh followed in her parents’ footsteps and earned an Olympic Trials cut in the 100 fly, following in the footsteps of her father David (head coach at SwimMAC Carolina) and her mom Kristin, who was a college swimmer too.
The WCNC NBC affiliate in Charlotte (local Charlotte media loves swimming) decided to pit David, who doesn’t coach his daughter, against Alyssa in a 25 fly just to see who might win. David himself was an All-American backstroker at Auburn.
Using her more modern start (as compared to her dad’s old-fashioned, two-footed touch start), Alyssa got off to a sizable lead and won by half-a-stroke. Check out the video below.
