David Marsh Signs Contract Extension at SwimMAC Through 2018

SwimMAC Carolina, which is amassing an impressive lineup of Olympians and former NCAA stars headed toward the Rio 2016 Olympics, has extended the contract of CEO David Marsh through 2018.

In Marsh’s time with the club, it has become one of the country’s true powerhouses, both at the post-graduate level and at the more typical age group level.

Among the professional swimmers announced as new additions to the group in the last few weeks include NCAA Champion Dax Hill, 2012 Olympic gold medalist Lauren Perdue, two-time Olympic Champion, and 8-time Olympic medalist, Kirsty Coventry, and NCAA All-American Katie Meili. Cullen Jones continues to train there as well.

Marsh says that his goal is to build a new pool to hold major events beyond the current Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center that hosts the annual UltraSwim Grand Prix.

Marsh has been a member of the U.S. Olympic staff three times (1996, 2000, and 2012), an 8-time NCAA Coach of the Year, and the holder of 12 NCAA Championships from his time at Auburn. He was also the head coach of the 2003 U.S. World Championships team.

Maybe with what’s happening at TAC, this will cut down on Marsh’s blatant recruiting of age groupers to the program. He has the audacity of contacting other club coaches and indicate that once swimmers get to a certain level to send them his way. that’s great coaching.

The ultra swim is hosted at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center and is not “the current swimmac facility”. mac may rent some pool time there but so do Team Charlotte, Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg, NSS and Queen City Dolphins.
