Short course American record-holder David Nolan won’t swim the 200 IM on the final day of the Arena Pro Swim Series at Austin, swimming only the 100 backstroke.
Nolan has scratched out of the IM event according to the prelims heat sheets, which you can view here. He was set to swim a double with the 100 back, but only appears on the heat sheets in the backstroke event.
One other major scratch is Micah Lawrence, who won’t swim the 100 breaststroke or the 200 IM. Lawrence, an Olympian out of SwimMAC Carolina, took 11th in the 200 breast on day 1, but has bowed out of the 100 breast and 200 IM on day 3. The IM was just an off-event, but Lawrence was the fourth seed in the 100 breast.
A couple more noteworthy scratches:
- Michael Andrew won’t swim the 100 back. The 16-year-old was scheduled to swim the 100 breast, 100 back and 200 IM. He scratches the backstroke, which was the middle event of the three, which should allow him more rest to chase soem 15-16 National Age Group records in the other two races.
- California’s Elizabeth Pelton has scratched the 200 IM. She would have followed up that race with the 100 back in the very next event, but will now swim only one race on Sunday.
Nolan is not a lcm guy just it but some people still thinks his scy results says he is the sucessor of Phelps
I still find it curious that David Nolan swimming (or scratching!) the 200 IM LCM is still a news item. Some people on this site think that Michael Andrew gets too many column inches for the level of performances that he puts in. The next story that includes both of them should be about how David Nolan gets smoked by a 16 yr old in the 200IM, and therefore the David Nolan 200IM news is finished……over……done. More power to MA and the stars of tomorrow.
