GIRLS’ 500 YARD FREE

Georgia state champion 500 swimmer Grace Ferry of Dynamo dominated heat 5, until Michelle Owens of FISH came back in the last 100 yards, challenging her at the finish.

Longhorn commit Kaitlin Harty held the lead through the first half of heat 6, before being challenged by Madison Homovich of the Marlins of Raleigh and the City of Mobile Swim Association’s Paige Madden. Homovich ended up taking the heat, followed by Harty and Madden.

Upper Valley Aquatic Club’s Hannah Cox, the top seed going into prelims and an Arizona commit, grabbed the early lead in heat 7, holding on through the finish. Lauren Case of the Chattahoochee Gold Swim Team, another Texas Longhorn commit, hit the wall second, and the two of them were seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Top eight: Cox (4:42.32), Case (4:44.57), Homovich (4:44.53), Harty (4:47.83), Madden (4:45.29), Ana Pozder of Triangle Aquatics (4:47.28), Kendall Dawson of Fast Lane Aquatics (4:50.90), Amanda Nunan of Egg Harbor (4:49.95).

Consolation final: Kendall Brent, Erica Laning, Kahra Williams, Madelyn Donohoe, Megan Bull, Emma Layton, Savanna Faulcon, Melissa Pish

BOYS’ 500 YARD FREE

Kevin Miller of Swim Ithaca and Nathan Murray of SwimMAC fought for the early lead from the bottom two lanes of heat 7. Swim Florida’s Santiago Corredor caught up about halfway through the race and ended up finishing ahead of both of them.

NAG record holder in the 13-14 LC 200 free Robert “Trey” Freeman of Baylor Swim Club was ahead in heat 8 from the very start, fighting to hold off top seed Georgia commit Walker Higgins of the Tennessee Aquatic Club. Upper Dublin Aquatic Club’s Jake Sannem held on tight for a third place finish in the heat.

Top eight: Freeman (4:20.97), Higgins (4:24.28), Ted Schubert of NOVA of Virginia (4:24.98), Sannem (4:25.54), Corredor (4:26.65), Murray (4:26.88), Charlie Swanson of NOVA of Virginia (4:26.75), Hank Siefert of Coffman YMCA (4:27.37)

Consolation final: Miller, Eric Geunes, Jason Quinn, Jarrett Jones, Clark Beach, Aaron Schultz, TC Smith, Clayton Forde

GIRLS’ 200 YARD IM

Ali Galyer of the Y-Spartaquatics won heat 10 by over a body length.

Gator Swim Club’s Isabel Ivey crushed her heat out of lane 2, winning heat 11.

Heat 12 had many contenders fighting through the butterfly and backstroke legs, but by breaststroke, it was a fight between Kentucky commit Asia Seidt of the Lakeside Swim Team and 14-year-old Alex Walsh of Nashville Aquatics. Camryn Forbes of the Butler Y Aquatic Club snuck up in the free leg. Walsh ended up winning the heat with a 1:58.80, just one second off Missy Franklin’s 13-14 National Age Group record of 1:57.70 from back in 2010.

USC commit Tatum Wade of Nashville Aquatic Club led heat 13 throughout, followed by Lakeside Swim Team’s Brooke Forde. 

Top eight: Wade (1:58.33), Ivey (1:58.35), Walsh (1:58.80), Allie Raab of Nashville Aquatics (1:58.93), Forde (1:59.25), Seidt (1:59.64), Galyer (2:00.64), and Kay Sargent of Victor Swim Club (2:00.68)

Consolation final: Hannah Foster, Forbes, Danielle Dellatore, Savanna Faulconer, Evie Bragg, Hannah Kukurugya, Ella Nelson, Jessica Horoman

BOYS’ 200 YARD IM

Heat 8 went to Ariel Spektor of the Bolles School Sharks in 1:50.81.

NOVA’s Ted Schubert had the lead going into breaststroke in heat 9. Grosse Pointe Gator Jacob Montague, a Michigan commit, ended up taking the heat with 1:47.77.

David Crossland led the first half of the race out of lane 1. Dynamo’s Derek Cox pulled ahead in the free, but Brennan Pastorek ended up taking the heat.

Dean Farris dominated the first half of heat 11, going on to finish first. Barracuda Swim Club’s Harvard commit Daniel Chang caught up and finished within a tenth of Farris.

Top eight: Montague (1:47.77), Farris (1:48.14), Chang (1:48.22), Cooper Hodge of the Mason Manta Rays (1:50.04), Brennan Pastorek of Georgia Coastal Aquatic Club (1:48.90), Nicolas Albiero  of Cardinal Aquatics (1:49.15), Alex Taylor of Swim Atlanta (1:49.20), Alexander Martin of X-Cel Swimming (1:49.46)

Consolation final: Connor Blandford, David Crossland, Schubert, Charlie Swanson, Charles Vaughan, Kieran Smith, Derek Cox, Jonathan Glavich

GIRLS’ 50 YARD FREE

In heat 7, Gretchen Walsh of Nashville just missed the 11-12 National Age Group Record in the 50 free, a 23.15 set by Amanda Weir in 1999. Walsh swam a 23.44.

Heat 9 went to Lauren Case of the Chattahootchie Gold.

Heat 10 went to Alyssa Marsh of SwimMAC with a 22.79

Marta Ciesla of Pine Crest Swimming won heat 11 in 22.68.

Ashley Volpenhein of the Mason Manta Rays won heat 12 in 22.68 to tie Ciesla for the first seed.

Top eight: Volpenhein (22.68), Ciesla (22.68), Marsh (22.79), Sherridon Dressel of the Bolles School Sharks (22.84), Case (22.86), Christina Lappin of SwimMAC (22.86), Morgan Tankersly of Greater Tampa Swim Association (22.90), and Grace Countie of the Marlins of Raleigh (22.95).

Consolation final: Isabel Ivey, Erika Brown, Katie Schorr, Brooke Bauer, Alex Walsh, Talia Bates, Grace Ariola, Katherine Aikin

BOYS’ 50 YARD FREE

Henry Gaissert, a Yale commit of Bernal’s Gator Swim Club, came out of lane 1 to win heat 5 in 20.75. 

Will Davis of the Bolles School Sharks took heat 6 in 20.41. 

Drew Kibler, a 15-year-0ld out of of Carmel Swim Club, won heat 7 in 20.17. 

Metro Atlanta Aquatics’s Harvard commit Dean Farris finished first in heat 8, touching in 20.33.

Raiz Tjon-A-Joe of Azura Florida Florida Aquatics won heat 9 and the top seed, the only swimmer to crack 20 with a 19.94. 

Top eight: Tjon-A-Joe (19.94), Kibler (20.17), Upper Dublin Aquatics’s Michael Jensen (20.28), Bernal’s Gator’s Nikolai Syssoev (20.33), Farris (20.33), Davis (20.36), Brody Heck of Saint Andrew’s (20.41), David Madej (20.56)

You are incorrect in your report of the men’s 200IM heat 10.. Derek Cox did not win that heat. Brennan Pastorek swam a strong free and finished first by about 1 sec..

Sorry about that. The live results only pick up on the first 14 characters. I went through and tried to fix those with more.

As a note, Madison Homovich is with the Marlins of Raleigh.

Impressive showing by the SwimMAC Carolina girls thus far!

Why these two meets are not hyped up, televised, streamed and served up like a Little League World Series or the Under Amour All American Game OR the McDonalds All American Game is beyond me. What are you doing USA Swimming!? Now is the chance. If yon’t believe me then read this.
