Day 3 of Conference Carolinas Sets Up Thrilling Final Day on Saturday

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The 2022 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships continued on Friday, Feb. 18 with more records falling and the team scores after the third day setting up for what should be a thrilling final day.

Emmanuel narrowly leads the women’s team standings through 26 events with a total team tally of 457. Barton is right behind in second with 450 team points, while UNC Pembroke is in third with 411 points.

In the men’s teams standings, Emmanuel leads the way with 619 points. Barton is in second with 352.5 points and King is in third with 314.5 total team points.

The third day of the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships started with UNC Pembroke’s Gillian Manning shattering the championship record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:26.73.

In the women’s 100 yard butterfly, Natalie Hayes took top honors and reset her own conference championship record with a time of 55.84. A little while later in the women’s 100 yard backstroke, Barton’s Kleanza Cathers set the new championship record mark with a time of 57.29.

The final record set on Friday saw Emmanuel’s Susana Ungo, Diana Suprun, Hayes and Alexandra Cerbino set the new standard in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:52.95.

The final day of the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships is slated for Saturday, Feb. 19. The preliminaries will get underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the finals scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The preliminaries and finals will be streamed live on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network at ConferenceCarolinasDN.com. Commentary will be provided for the finals, but the preliminaries will just be video with no sound.
