Defending NCAA Champs California Cruise Over Washington St

The defending NCAA Champions continued to run over Washington State on the second day of their dual meet. California won with a final score of 299.50 t0 131.50. Three more pool records fell during the second day of the meet, and multiple swimmers doubled up, picking up multiple day two victories. Farida Osman and Liz Pelton each won two individual event wins apiece. Osman took the 50 fly (24.18) and 100 free (50.84), and Pelton claimed the 200 free (1:49.21) to go with her second victory in the 200 back.

Amy Bilquist started the day with a pool record in the 50 free with a 23.14 after breaking the pool record in the 100 backstroke on Friday. Their star senior Liz Pelton lowered the other backstroke pool record with a 1:57.68 in the 200 backstroke. The final pool record was broken in the 200 freestyle relay by Valerie Hull, Rachel Bootsma, Amy Bilquist, and Farida Osman. 

California won every event except for the two breaststroke events. Washington State’s Else Lindberg won the 50 breaststroke in 30.19 and her teammate, Presley Wetterstrom, won the 200 breaststroke with a 2:16.53.
