Denver Adds Three Divers to 2016-17 Roster

DENVER – The University of Denver swimming and diving program has added divers Alex Morgan (Dyer, Ind.), Sydney Brookstein (Broomfield, Colo.) and Sammy Walker (Los Gatos, Calif.) to its 2016-17 roster, diving coach Channing Kimball announced on Wednesday.

“This incoming class of divers is a valuable addition to the DU swimming and diving team,” Kimball said. “Alex, Sammy and Sydney have each experienced athletic success at the high school and/or club level. They bring a lot of experience to the team and will definitely add the depth the diving team needs to be competitive against dual meet competitors and within the Summit League. We are so happy to welcome these divers to the Pioneer Family.”

Morgan spent four years diving for both his club team and Lake Central High School. The incoming freshman was an All-America pick as a junior, and received All-Sectional and All-Conference honors in his final three years, reaching the state meet in his final two.

Brookstein was a two-time Colorado State Finals qualifier in 2013 and 2014, and a four-year diver for the Mile High Dive Club (2013-16). The lone Colorado product in the incoming diving trio was a USA Diving Zone E Championship qualifier in 2015 and 2016 while with the Mile High Dive Club.

Walker was a two-time USA Diving Zone E Championship qualifier in 2014 and 2015. The Los Gatos, Calif., native was a California Interscholastic Federation Central Coast Section Diving Finalist in 2015. Walker finished 19th in the one-meter and 37th in the three-meter at the 2016 USA Diving Region 10 meet.
