The University of Denver men’s swimming and diving team is ranked No. 3, while the women placed No. 8 in the college swimming Mid-Major Ranking, released last week. DU ranked highest of all schools in The Summit League.
The Mid-Major Rankings serve to provide an objective point system to compare teams that do not benefit from large scale football or basketball conferences or those teams that provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules. The ranking accounts for teams’ top performances over the preceding month and is one of the only objective rankings of swimming for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA.
Denver’s men received 847.63 points and the women got 877.7. Ranking No.1 on the men’s side was Princeton, with 892.81 points. For the women, Columbia claimed the top spot with 931.04 points.
Denver swimming and diving closes the fall season at the University of Iowa Invite on Friday, Dec. 6 in Iowa City, Iowa.
