Depth Carries Walton Boys and Lambert Girls to Georgia 6A State Titles

At the Georgia 6A High School State Championships, Walton barely edged out Alpharetta to claim the 2015 state title. Walton tallied up 310 points, which was just enough to hold off Alpharetta’s 303.5 points.

David Dingess lead Walton with their only victory of the meet. Dingess posted a time of 49.19 to win the 100 butterfly.

Knox Auerbach was the only double event winner of the day. He won both the 200 and 100 freestyles. He was also apart of the state record breaking 200 freestyle relay. He lead off with a 20.50, and was followed by Sam Bray, Joonas Koski, and Cade Auerbach. Knox’s relay team also won the 400 freestyle relay, as well.

200 Medley Relay: Walton – 1:33.06
200 Freestyle: Knox Auerbach, NTVW – 1:37.00
200 IM: Alex Taylor, BRKW & Patrick Cusick, ALPH – 1:48.85
50 Freestyle: Tyler Harper, MARI – 20.62
100 Butterfly: David Dingess, WALT – 49.19
100 Freestyle: Knox Auerbach, NTVW – 44.31
500 Freestyle: Cody Bekemeyer, COLH – 4:23.28
200 Freestyle Relay: Northview – 1:24.32 ** New State Record
100 Backstroke: Michael Taylor, JCRK – 48.66
100 Breaststroke: Jared Chulavatr, LAMB – 56.41
400 Freestyle Relay: Northview & Alpharetta – 3:04.33

Results were not published for the women’s 400 freestyle relay, but we do know that Lambert won the 2015 6A state title. As of the breaststroke, Lambert had 395 points to Brookwood’s 307.

Lambert didn’t have any individual victories, but they did win the first two relays. The team of Caroline Aikins, Ashley Mallon, Jane Johnson, and Katherine Aikins won the 200 IM and the team of Caroline Aikins, Lilia Smith, Emma Fish, and Katherine Aikins won the 200 freestyle relay.

Lauren Case from Woodstock was the only double event winner of the day for the women’s meet. She posted an impressive 1:45.96 to win the 200 freestyle and a 53.13 to win the 100 buttefly.

100 Backstroke: Katherine Parker, MLCK – 55.62
100 Breaststroke: Emma Murray, POPE – 1:03.11

Your winners list for the men’s is incomplete. Patrick Cusick and Alex Taylor tied for the 200 IM and 400 freestyle relay also ended in a tie between Northveiw and Alpharetta according to the meet results

If you look at Auerbach’s 50 Free split he would have won the 50 free as well. Incredible night for this young man.

Just an FYI I think you guys have Auerbach’s prelims 200 time, he actually went 1:37.0 at night. Those first two splits were insane- 21.2/23.9 for a 45.1 going out but he certainly did not make it all the way through at that pace haha
