16-year-old Destin Lasco of Pleasantville Aquatics stole the show this weekend at the MA Senior Champs, setting an NAG record in the 100 back and winning five of his six individual races.
In the 100 back, Lasco popped a 45.93, taking over seven tenths off of the old 15-16 NAG record. His 200 back was also fantastic, as he shaved two tenths from his previous best to clock a 1:41.77. That moves him from fourth to third in the 15-16 all-time rankings.

Lasco was unbeatable in three more races– the 100 breast (55.90), 400 IM (3:48.22), and the 100 free (44.22). He beat his older brother Glenn Lasco (45.04) for the 100 free title. Destin Lasco also uncorked a 42.95 anchor leg on PVA’s winning 400 free relay.
Andrew Abruzzo of Plymouth Whitemarsh Aquatics was the only person to defeat Destin Lasco the entire weekend, as the distance specialist finished with a PR of 4:21.81 to win the 500 free. Abruzzo didn’t race the 400 IM or 1650 free, two of his best events, but swam to a win in the 200 IM (1:48.56) and added a runner-up finish in the 200 fly (1:46.03). The 200 fly was a close race, as Abruzzo was edged by Delaware Swim Team’s Jacob Johnson (1:45.72).
14-year-old Mia Abruzzo, younger sister of Andrew, collected several wins on the girls’ side. She took titles in the 400 IM (4:17.23), 200 fly (1:59.16), 200 back (2:01.29), 500 free (4:53.38), and 1000 free (10:02.36), hitting best times in the 400 IM, 200 fly, and 200 back. She also went a lifetime best 1:50.95 to place 2nd in the 200 free behind Central Buck Swim Team’s Morgan Scott (1:48.18).
Nora Woods of the Jersey Wahoos, after setting PRs in both breaststrokes just two weeks ago at the NCSA Championships, dropped even more time. She won both breaststrokes this weekend, as well, going 1:01.99 to take the 100 and 2:14.26 in the 200. Ann Carozza of Golden Ram Aquatics had two wins, too, going 23.40 in the 50 free and 54.89 in the 100 fly.

His endurance is insane, kid knows how to bring it back, especially in the 100free 21.8/22.4 this weekend, was 21.5/22.1 at juniors.
Probably a little bit of fatigue on that last day but still a new best time in the 200 back. Great meet overall.

Yeah, looks like that was at Jr Nats last year. A little under the radar because he dropped 2 seconds in B finals in the 200 and Sancov was ahead of him sub-50 in the 100. Looks like he was also a 23.7 50. Interesting that he was way off his backstrokes there – 57.4/2:06.
Backstroke best times are from back when he was 14.
Lasco and Dare Rose are huge talents to watch out for. Sorta been overshadowed by The fosters. Rose best times in the big pool are :
