Maybe phelps unique metabolism, which doesn’t produce as much lactic acid as other athletes helped.

Okay. This is for all of you haters that don’t like my post. Athletes like Phelps are born, not made. He worked incredibly hard to get what he attained, but his body’s ability to shuttle lactic acid (containing the hydrogen ion which inhibits the movement of the muscle) out of his myocytes (muscle cells) and back to his liver is a HUGE factor in his success.
This PREDISPOSITION allowed him to train better and to race better than your average swimmer.
KSWIMS, I recommend that you self-regulate yourself and your anger and seek help.

I have to say that given the sledging before that 100m Fly, Cavic offering to buy Phelps a new suit, and the clash of heads mentioned above (which was mentioned on TV on the day as well) it is the most impressive under pressure swim I have ever seen. It is also the most exciting swim I have watched “live”. So hard to watch swims live due to time zones and broadcasting restrictions.

Also my own experience is that using setbacks for motivation and using anger to increase aggression for swimming does work.
