Devin Jacobs Adds Verbal Commitment to Iowa Hawkeyes’ Class of 2019

Devin Jacobs, a senior at Naperville North High School in Naperville, Illinois, has made a verbal commitment to the University of Iowa for 2015-16.

“I’m so excited to be a Hawkeye next fall!  I have had a great time getting to know the staff and team throughout the recruiting process.  I am looking forward to four years of success both in the pool and academically.  Go Hawkeyes!!!”

Jacobs is a Winter Nationals qualifier in the 200 breast and 400 IM from Academy Bullets Swim Club. At the 2014 NCSA Spring Championships she was a finalist in the 200y breast and both IMs, and split 53/1:53 on ACAD’s 400 and 800 free relays. In the long course version of the same meet in August, Jacobs finaled in the 50/200m breast and 200/400m IM, and was 1:00/2:07 on those same relays. Her top times include:

400y IM: 4:19.89               400m IM: 4:58.08
200y IM: 2:04.28               200m IM: 2:23.36
200y breast: 2:17.17        200m breast: 2:41.07
100y breast: 1:05.23        100m breast: 1:17.84
50y breast: 30.42              50m breast: 35.25
200y free: 1:54.09            200m free: 2:09.88
100y free: 53.42                100m free: 1:03.30

Jacobs’ 400 IM and 200 breast times should already make her an asset to the Hawkeyes’ lineup in 2015-16. They would have qualified her for the B-final and C-final, respectively, at the 2014 B1G Championships. Iowa did not have one swimmer in the three finals heats of the 400 IM and only two in the 200 breast, so those would be welcome points.
