Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Megan Fox from Margate City, New Jersey has announced her commitment continue her academic and athletic careers at the University of South Carolina beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.

“I am so beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of South Carolina! This is a dream come true and I am so thankful for my family, friends, teammates and the coaches who have helped me get to this point. I also can not thank the amazing coaching staff at USC enough for believing in me to compete at the SEC level. Go gamecocks #spursup”

Fox swims for Egg Harbor Twp Seahawks out of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Over the summer, she earned numerous long course best times while at the Middle Atlantic Senior Championships. Those best times included the 200 (2:08.78), 400 (4:29.19), and 1500 (17:31.63) freestyles as well as the 200 backstroke (2:26.80).

She has already continued her success into this fall. Recently in December she notched short course yards best times in the 1000 (10:13.15) and 1650 (16:56.71) freestyles. Her 1650 time drop was almost 18 seconds.

Fox began her senior year this fall at Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, NJ.

Her best short course yards times are:

  • 400 IM: 4:29.71

The University of South Carolina is a public university located in Columbia, South Carolina. The school is a member of the SEC.

At the 2021 SEC Championships, the Gamecocks finished 11th out of 12 teams. It took times of 4:49.09 in the 500 freestyle and 16:42.43 in the 1650 freestyle to score points at the 2021 Championships. The school is in its first season under new head coach Jeff Poppell.

Fox will arrive on campus next fall as a member of the class of 2026 along with Megan Maholic, MaKayla Ciancanelli, Meaghan Harnish, Caroline Kudela, Sterling Burd, Amy Riordan, and Claire Dafoe

At SEC’s last year, sprint freestyler and current junior Janie Smith led the team with 27 points. She was followed by current senior backstroker Mari Kraus (16 points) and current junior breaststroker Taylor Steele (12 points). Fox has the potential to help boost the distance freestyle program that scored 0 points at 2021 SEC’s in the 200, 500, and 1650 freestyles.
