Indian freestyle swimmer Kushagra Rawat ne Newton Park Swimming Pool, Gqeberha, South Africa mein South Africa Aquatics meet mein Bharat ke liye pehla medal jeet kar itihaas racha. Unhone men’s 1500m freestyle event mein sona padak jita, aur samay 15:41:61 clock kiya. Ye kamaal ka safar unhe South Africa ke doosre sthan Matthew Caldwell se 8 second aage rakha.

Rawat ki jeet, Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) ke team ke tahat pratibhag kar rahe Bharatiya swimming team ke liye bada sa safar tha. Lekin Rawat ki jeet sirf Bharatiya team ka ek prashansniya perform nahi tha.

Aur do Bharatiya tairak, Anurag Singh aur Krishna Gadakh, bhi same event mein shaamil the. Singh ne 16:22.75 samay kiya, jabki Gadakh ka samay tha 16:56.71.

Sona padak jeetne ke baad bhi, Rawat ne apna vyaktigat best samay 15:31.65 ko nahi toda. Vah abhi bhi Olympic Qualification mark, 15:00.99, se bahut door hain. Isse yeh samajh mein aata hai ki jabki Rawat ka performance achha tha, lekin vah abhi bhi sudhaar ki kshamata rakhta hai jab vah Olympic standard ko meet karne ki koshish karta hai. Rawat ke pradarshan ke alawa, rashtriya rekha dharta Maana Patel bhi is event mein shaamil thi. Haalaanki, Patel women’s 50m backstroke final A mein nahi pahunch saki, preliminary round mein 30.53 seconds ka samay kiya. Final B performance ke baad unka samay 30.75 seconds tha aur unhone overall 13th sthan haasil kiya. Is haadsa ke bawajood, dono Rawat aur Patel ke paas aane wale kuch aur events hain, jahan ve aur behtar samay prapt karne ki koshish karenge.
