Double Legacy Jacob Johnson Gives Verbal Commitment to NC State

“I chose NC State because they have great academics and the chemistry and speed amongst the team is one of a kind. Also, both my parents attended NC state so I was born a Wolfpack fan. I couldn’t be more excited to be joining this program!”

Jacob Johnson, who swims for Nova of Virginia Aquatics in Richmond Virginia, has verbally committed to North Carolina State University for the 2017-18 season.

Johnson is a back/fly specialist. He finished 4th in the 200 back, 11th in the 50 back, 18th in the 100 back, and 38th in the 200 free at NCSA Spring Championships. There he picked up a handful of best SCY times in prelims, then another handful of LCM times in finals. At the NCSA Summer Championships he finaled in the 100 free (14th), 200 free (19th), 50 back (21st), 100 back (11th), 200 back (8th), and 100 fly (14th).

His best times are:

  SCY LCM
50 back 23.47 27.34
100 back 49.24 57.83
200 back 1:46.24 2:05.23
50 fly 23.30 26.39
100 fly 50.63 57.44
50 free 21.48 24.64
100 free 45.85 52.83
200 free 1:39.9 1:56.48

Johnson is the seventh (and final?) verbal for the North Carolina State class of 2021, if one is to believe the following tweet:

In addition to Johnson, the Wolfpack class of 2021 will be made up of verbal commits:

Watch this kid drop 3 seconds per hundred this year. State will have him breaking 20 in the 50 faster than you blink.
