PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Athletics mourns the loss of Hall of Famer William Logue, who passed away on December 1. Logue was a longtime swim coach at Drexel before retiring in 1991.
One of the winningest coaches in Drexel history, Logue served as the swimming and diving coach for 23 years. Compiling a career record of 242-56, his men’s team captured five East Coast Conference titles, registered three undefeated seasons and placed either first or second in nine of his final 10 season of coaching. As the women’s coach from 1978-1984, Logue guided the Dragons to six conference crowns and a 64-7 record. A two-time ECC Coach of the Year, he was named National Coach of the Year in 1979 by the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) after leading the women’s team to an AIAW Division II national runner-up finish. Logue held positions as associate professor of physical education, freshman football coach and assistant track coach in addition to his swimming duties.
