Duff and Crayne Sweep Conference USA Swim Awards

For the second time this season, the Western Kentucky University duo of junior Allie Duff and freshman Amy Crayne swept the weekly Conference USA swim awards.

Duff has been named Swimmer of the Week following a strong performance against Olympians and NCAA winners at the AT&T Winter National Championships. Crayne earns her third-consecutive Diver of the Week honor after a pair of top-15 finishes at the Miami (OH) Invite.

 

Duff advanced to each of the night’s finals at the AT&T Winter National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., this past weekend. Duff finished in 22nd in the 200 IM after stopping the clock in 2:01.26, making it to the event’s final with a prelim time of 2:01.18 against a field of 63 swimmers. On night two, she completed the 100 back in 54.55 while finishing the weekend with a showing in the 200 back final, placing 16th in 1:59.38.

In relay events, Duff helped her 4×50 medley team to a ninth place-time of 1:41.07 and the 4×100 medley relay finished 11th in 3:42.55. This is the second Swimmer of the Week award for Duff.

Crayne had two top-15 finishes at the Miami (OH) Invite over the weekend. Her best finish came in the tower event, placing eighth with a score of 178.65. She finished 14th in a field of 35 divers with 240.45 points on the one-meter board. On the three-meter evaluations, Crayne recorded 170.60 points. 

WKU swim and dive resumes action in January during the team’s annual winter training trip when they face Florida Atlantic and Nova Southeastern on Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. CT.
