After Minnesota announced on Thursday that they were pulling out of a scheduled tri-meet with Duke at Florida State, the Blue Devils have now also announced that they won’t be making the journey to Tallahassee.
The Blue Devils will have the longest wait as a result to begin their intercollegiate 2016-2017 season – it will now begin instead on Friday, Oct. 21 in a two-day meet with Virginia Tech, William & Mary and West Virginia. The competition will be held at the Hokies’ Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
This gives new Seminoles head coach Neal Studd an extra week to prepare his squad for their first dual of the season, which will now be against the University of Florida on October 13th in Tallahassee.
There are still hopes of rescheduling a portion or all of this weekend’s planned meet in the spring, though those details are still being discussed.
Hurricane Matthew is now a category 3 hurricane and is expected to continue to weaken, though remain deadly, as it makes its way up the Atlantic Coast over the next 48 hours.
The hurricane currently sits just off the coast of Daytona Beach, Florida, with winds as high as 50 miles per hour reaching as far inland as Orlando. While the storm is still not expected to do much damage in Tallahassee itself, on the western end of the Florida panhandle, it is a huge system that stretches hundreds of miles across, leaving uncertainty with any travel from Florida up to North Carolina.
