BOSTON – The UConn women’s swimming and diving team captured a pair of dual meet victories on Saturday afternoon at Boston University.
The Huskies defeated the Terriers, 185-108, and Bryant University by a score of 170-127.
“After a challenging night of racing it was good to see the guys back racing with a short turnaround,” said head coach Chris Maiello. “In preparation for mid-season and ultimately our conference championships this back to back competition weekend was really vital to our preparation. Overall we were a bit sharper today than yesterday, which is a positive sign that our training is in the right place. Our staff and athletes feel good about where we are at this point in the season. With a idle week next weekend, we can spend this week training hard and making a big push towards our mid-season invite.”
Lena Redisch opened the meet with a strong performance in the 1000 Free with a first place time of 10:25.28. Along with Redisch, the women’s relays team secured a pair of wins with a mark of 3:30.71 in the 400 Free and 1:45.56 in the 200 Medley Relay
On the women’s side we had contributions up and down the line-up”, said Maiello. “Again our team depth played a factor as six different women had individual wins for us. Our medley realy’s led off with a real strong effort tonight, I think that set a certain tone with our team that we were going to be formidable today.”
The UConn women posted 20 season-best times and six dives qualified for season-bests. UConn dominated the podium on the boards with Erin Clifford winning both the 1M and 3M events. Kamrin Dawkins and Alyssa Annenberg finished second and third in the 3M while Elizabeth Drab and Dawkins earned the final two podium spots in the 1M.
“On Friday, we had some great competition with Duke, Dartmouth, and BC,” said head diving coach Josh Arndt, “The diving was at a high level and our divers stepped up to the plate and got the job done. We had a couple struggled dives, but the divers used the experience to come out and have a fantastic meet on Saturday. We had a 1-3 sweep on Men’s and Women’s 3 meter that resulted in Justin and Erin getting their zone cuts. The 1 meter events were great for us as well with Elizabeth getting her zone cut. We’re in great shape moving forward and I’m excited about our progress so far.”
Other notable winners for the Huskies came from Caitlin Spencer with her UConn career-best time in the 100 Back of 57.45, Jennie Novak in 100 Breast, Linnea Anderson in the 200 Fly and Ryan Dulaney in the 500 Free

Our depth showed tonight in multiple events, and I think that was what helped us overcome a night where we were not at our best. Overall our performance are encouraging at this point in the season. Credit to Will for winning two events in the back and 100 free. Those are solid times for him.”
