LORETTO, Pa. – The Duquesne University swimming & diving team earned a victory over Saint Francis U on Saturday afternoon at Stokes Natatorium.
The Dukes won by a score of 188.5 to 73.5 to give the team its 10th-straight victory over the Red Flash.
Haley Scholer, Sydney Severini, Mara Voytek and Sydney Sherman teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay by a narrow margin in front of another team of Dukes. The quartet hit the final wall at 1:48.29 to win the heat.
Sherman went on to earn the top times in both the 50- and 200-yard freestyles. She posted a time of 1:58.12 to win the 200, before clocking in at 24.45 seconds to win the 50-yard heat.
Voytek claimed a victory in the 50-yard breaststroke with her time of 31.13 seconds, which was .06 ahead of the second-place time.
Scholer hit the wall first in both the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. She finished with a time of 53.13 seconds in the 100-free, before clocking in at 58.09 to win the 100-yard back.
Emma Menzer posted the top time in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard IM. She won the 500-yard free at 5:15.16 and hit the wall first in the 100-yard IM with a time of 1:00.29.
Kayla Johnson took home a victory in the 50-yard butterfly with her time of 26.65 seconds.
Aislinn Mooney was the victor in the 1000-yard freestyle with her time of 10:45.08.
Hannah Morelli edged out Saint Francis in the 50-yard backstroke. She hit the wall in 27.46 seconds, which was just ahead of SFU’s Inde Patterson’s time of 27.58 seconds.
Claudia Rzeznik took home the medalist honors in the 100-yard butterfly. She posted a time of 59.15 seconds to win the event.
Johnson, Scholer, Gaby Jenkins and Leah Reisker wrapped up the day with the top time in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The group finished with a time of 3:33.02; over six seconds faster than the team from Saint Francis. The time also established a new pool record.
The Duquesne swimmers will travel to Cleveland, Ohio for the Magnus Cup starting on Thursday, Nov. 17 through Saturday, Nov. 19, while the divers will head for Morgantown, West Virginia to compete in the WVU Diving Invitational during the same days.

LORETTO, Pa – The Red Flash returned home to Loretto where they played host to their in-state rival, Duquesne. Saint Francis had one first-place finish during the afternoon meet and that was won by Oksana Horova in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Saint Francis had multiple second place finished during the contest starting with Aurem Piffare in the 1000 yard freestyle. Next, was Inde Patterson in the 50 yard backstroke and then followed by Horova who finished second in the 50 yard breaststroke. The last second place finish for the Red Flash was courtesy of Sara Turner in the 100 yard butterfly race.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Horova finished the 100 yard breaststroke with a quick time of 1:07.74 for the Red Flash. She also finished with a time of 31.19 in the 50 yard breaststroke for Saint Francis.
Pifarre came in a close second with a time of 10:48.05 in the 1000 yard freestyle.
Patterson just narrowly missed first-place with a speedy time of 27.58 in the 50 yard backstroke.
Turner rounded out the second place group with a time of 59.39 in the 100 yard butterfly.

The Red Flash will have a week off from competing until they hit the road again to take on Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. The meet is scheduled from November 18th to November 20th.
