East Carolina’s Hamblin, FIU’s Lehtonen Earn Weekly AAC Swimming and Diving Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly swimming and diving awards.

SWIMMING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Kaylee Hamblin, Junior, East Carolina
Hamblin swept the breaststroke events as the Pirates went 3-0 in a quad meet against Barton College, Catawba and Gardner-Webb on September 30. The junior claimed the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.76 and touched first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:17.23. She was also part of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished first in 1:43.89.

DIVING ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ruska Lehtonen, Sophomore, FIU
Lehtonen won the 1-meter event with a score of 252.30 against Miami on September 27, while taking second in the 3-meter event with a score of 239.55.
